RV Repair: ac-dc converter, 5th wheel trailer, ac dc converter

Question
Dear sir... I have a 1995 Chevy Coachman, class B camper van..fully loaded...i have noticed, that after I set up, and plug the van into, 30amp power source. and set back turn on the dc television, but the air cond, heater, are AC, the ac/dc converter clicks on and off, every few moments...everything keeeps working, but the tv, picture and sound are slightly affected...my question, is;, is this normal????..the exact same converter in my 5th wheel trailer, just makes a constant, steady hum!!!!

Answer
Hi R.J.
From here it sounds like the D/C circuit breaker in the lower end of the converter is being over loaded. And what you are seeing/hearing is the breaker, breaking and resetting. Could be a weak breaker or too much current flow or both.
Is this a magnetek 6300 series converter??. If so the breaker is replaceable, but I suspect something else is the cause. You'll need to have someone check the voltages a the converter output and charger.
