RV Repair: rv water heater problem, atwood water heater, electric heating elements

Question
I have a 2005 travel trailer with a gas/electric Atwood water heater.  The water heater works great on gas but if I try to use it just on the electric setting it will not work.  I've checked wire connections at the heater and all seems to be okay.  What else can I check?

Some water heaters have electric heating elements. And they are sort of like a light bulb, but give off heat instead of light. When they go out...they go out, just like a bulb.
If you have a Volt Ohm meter, you locate the wires to the A/C heater, disconnect them and check for continuity at the element itself. It is probably "open", burned out. If it has four screws then thats easy to remove and replace, if it screws in like a bolt, then it takes a special tool to unscrew it and their available at RV shops and hardware stores. Heater elements are about $12.00, for a 1500 watt.

Good luck
