RV Repair: Awning problem, redrill, wind damage

Question
I have an A & E 8500 9' awning that needs the fabric replaced from wind damage. With Help I think I can replace the fabric. However, the top arms have pulled loose from the top brackets. Can I repair the arm by cutting off about 3/4" and redrill the mounting hole and attaching with a new rivets? The arms are not bent or otherwise damaged.  Or do I have to replace the arms?

Answer
Hi Gary. The trick to repairing the arms is find the long rivets that swivel so the arm can move. I have only replaced the arms. That is what I would do if I were you.
Replacing the fabric is hard because of the large springs in the torsion assembles. It's not hard to brake a hand or finger while winding or unwinding. Be very careful.
