RV Repair: coleman pop up hot water heater, coleman pop up camper, hot water heater

I have a Coleman pop up camper Viking model, fairly new. I cannot get the pilot lite for the hot water heater to light. HELP!! WHERE DO I START??

Hi Shannon, I assume that it is a manual pilot light? If so. You may not be giving the very slow pilot valve enough time of LP to get to it. It has taken me sometimes 12 to 15 mins. to get it lit. The flow for the pilot is a pin size hole. If the coach has run out of LP or been in storage, it can take forever! You can speed this process up a little by lighting the other appliances. If after 15 mins and it still won't light, then you may need to replace the gas valve.
