RV Repair: Refridgerator operation, ambient air temperature, fridge freezer

Question
I have a 2007 travel trailer with a norcold fridge freezer.Does the outside ambient air temperature affect refrigerator performance? I am staying in the unit while working for the winter and it doesn't keep frozen foods froze and the fridge isn't as cold as it should be but all indicators say the fridge is working properly. This issue only came to light in the last week or so when the outside temp is hovering around -20 degrees Celsius.

Answer
Hi Roy, Yes the outside temp dose effect the performance. But yours is going the wrong way! It should be over cooling and not struggling to get cold. Why not just put the food outside? (kidding). It sounds like to me you have a bad cooling unit. You can test this by hot wiring the 110 volt heating element. Yellow and black wires. Make a spade connection at the end of the Bk and Ylw wires. You have to remove the cover on the board to access them. Hook the end to a extension cord. Let go over night. If refer gets cold then Ck Thermistor or the board. If it still not cool, then the Cooling unit is bad. Good Luck. Be carfull, High voltage.
