RV Repair: roof replacement, staple guns, wood paneling

Question
I have a 1980 winnebago brave class A with a rubber roof . I want to change the roof and i was wondering what was under the rubber. There are some soft spots that is why i am asking . I was thinking about changing the plywood as well . I am very mechanically minded and worked in home construction for alot of years so i am not afraid to tackle this. just want a heads up on what to expect in changing the plywood and the ceiling tiles.

Answer
Hi Peter, Big Job! Under the rubber is wood paneling. It is glued down on better RVs. (winnebago fall in that category.) How ever you decide to do the job, Make sure the end surface is smooth. No nail or screw heads popping up. I use large gauge staple guns to fasten the paneling down. then I fill all the holes. Keep it clean. and use a quality products like Dicor. Good Luck.
