RV Repair: Freedom 2000 invertor/10kw Onan Gen, charging batteries, battery cables

Question
QUESTION: I have a 93 HR Navigator. When plug into shore power inverter and all electric works fine. This weekend all of a sudden the inverter won't switch when I start the generator (w/shore power unplugged). Gen. is putting out because the 110v icemaker on refrig. works, and the a/c works (although it had trouble at first until I turned it off and back on). Is the trouble with the inverter or are there other things that could cause this? If inverter, can it be repaired or is replacement required?

ANSWER: Hi Mike. Try removing the battery cables to the inverter. Wait a few minuets and reconnect. This may reset the inverter. Now I am not clear what is wrong. Dose it not charge the batteries? Or it will not invert 12 volt to 110? There are replacement boards available. The only thing that can't be replaced is the rectifier. Good Luck.

QUESTION: It is not inverting 12 volt to 110 from the generator only. Works fine on shore power. And I know the generator is producing electricity.

Answer
There is a breaker on the front of it. Check to see if its pooped out. If your Gen is on then the only function the inverter is doing is charging batteries. The 110 electricity will only pass through it. The inverter only produces 110 when Gen or shore cord is not in use. This sound to me like a bad transfer switch.
