RV Repair: 5th wheel roof repair, 5th wheel, rubber membrane

Question
Hi,
I have a 1995 33.5' Terry 5th wheel which we bought used a couple years ago.  We could see that prior repairs had been done on both sides where the down sloping roof from the front levels off to the horizontal for the remainder of the trailer.  With the extreme heat we have had over the last few weeks and traveling all the rubber in these areas has again pulled away from the decking.  The decking appears to be in good shape and is tacky.  I now plan to replace the entire rubber roof but wanted to know if there was anything else I could do to this area to hold the rubber down or if it just pulled away due to the prior owner failing to coat it yearly.

Answer
Failure to coat the roof yearly has nothing to do with the adhesion of the rubber membrane to the decking.  With extreme heat, the adhesive does tend to release, but a lot of this depends on the type of decking and the type of adhesive, as well as the preparation of the unit when the roof was installed.
