RV Repair: Duo-Therm Air Conditioner (Model # 57915-051), duo therm air conditioner, class c motorhome

Question
I have a 1985 Jayco Class C Motorhome and the air conditioner won't work.
Up until recently I was running the electricity form my house with a heavy duty extension cord and everything was working just fine. Then for some reason the air conditioner stopped working.
I noticed that the circuit breakers in my house fuse box were only 20 amp.I installed a 30 amp breaker and a outlet.I ran the power cord supplied with the rv to the outlet. But so far nothing happens. The air conditioner won't come on or do anything.Do you have any idea what's wrong ?
Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Billy:

The work you did installing the 30 amp breaker, and wiring the receptacle for your motorhome, is certainly good time and money invested.  With the origional cord plugged into the receptacle, it should be getting plenty of power to run the A/C unit. What is the distance from your breaker box to where you installed the new receptacle for the motorhome? Does the fan even try to start on the AC unit?

Have you checked for incoming power to the RV with a reliable test meter? If so what does the voltage read?
Does any of the other 115 volt items in the RV function ok?

Have any of the circuit breakers, in the RV breaker box, tripped? If so, reset them and check to find out if the AC now works.

If you would check on these things I mentioned above, and respond back to me, I will be better able to assist you.
