RV Repair: Generator or converter malfunction, interior lighting, dead battery

Question
I have a 1973 Class C Winnebago motorhome.
The generator will not stay running when the engine is turned off.
Additionally to that if it does stay running the interior lighting is real dim.
If too many interior lights are on when transferred to all gen. power, the gen.will quit instantly.
This just started to do it after I brought it home from having a new roof installed on it.
Any answers will be greatly helpfull.

Thanks,
Rick

Answer
Hi rick.
sounds like a dead battery. Check your house and chassis batteries with a meter. Also check the converter output it sounds like it is not working.
A bad converter would explain both problems when voltage gets low the board in the genset stops working and the lights would be dim.
