RV Repair: Propane System Trouble Shooting, prowler travel trailer, gas control valve

Question
I have an 84 Prowler Travel Trailer. The pilot lite on the water heater will not stay lit. The control is an Atwood. The control was replaced a couple of years ago. Worked fine for a month, then the pilot lite would not stay lit. I replaced the thermocouple but that did not solve the problem. Can you give me any advice on how to solve this problem? Many Thanks

Answer
Hi Eric,
First off is the thermocouple directly in the flame?
It does need to be. The thermocouple can be tested by an RV dealer. It produced millivolts DC when heated. If it is new and you have adequate gas pressure (11 inches of water) then the only thing left is the gas control valve.
