RV Repair: Leaky Black Water Tank, Bad TV Antenna, antenna amplifier, rabbit ears

Question
Scott,

Thanks for your advice in fixing a rubber roof hole, problem solved!

New Problem! My black water tank has developed a slow leak at the point where the discharge pipe attaches to the tank.  What's the best way to patch it?

Another problem!  The TV antenna/amplifier doesn't
help the TV reception; the TV actually works better on rabbit ears.  The amplifier was replaced by the local dealer without effect.  Is there some way to measure the signal at the wall outlet?  Any other thoughts on how to repair this?

Cordially,

Bob

Answer
Hi Bob,
If your black water tank is the color black then it is ABS and you can get an ABS patch kit at any RV dealer. If the tank is plastic (white in color) then patching is very difficult and will most likely leak. You will need to replace the tank.
The antenna booster problem:
Go up on the roof and take off the coax at the antenna. Put a voltmeter between the center conductor and the shield. You should see 12v there. If you do then the booster is working and you most likely have a cabling problem. If there is no voltage the booster is not working.
