Saturn Repair: 2000 Saturn LS2, fuel pump filter, rule of thumb

Question
Our daughter was driving down a main road, 55 mph; the car stopped running.  After waiting for 15-20 minutes, the car would start again, we'd start driving for maybe 1 mile and it would do it again.  Had a new (after market) fuel pump and fuel filter installed; when we picked it up the mechanic had it running for approx. 20 minutes beforehand, and then 15 minutes while we were there.  We left and 1/2 way down the road from him, it stopped running.  Would this really be the fuel pump/filter again or was it really something else all along?

Answer
Hi Dave,

My rule of thumb is, never get anything electrical from aftermarket places, unless you want to pay someone to do that job over again. That being said, I had someone want a fuel pump for a 99 regency 98, 3 pumps later she finally agreed with me and put in a pump from the dealer, after that no problems........not saying that something more could be wrong but, you never know.

Let me know what you find out
