Saturn Repair: Electrical problems, 2001 saturn l200, saturn l200

Question
I own a 2001 Saturn L200 with 75,000 miles. Electrical problems keep mounting. First there was a burning odor coming from the rear passenger side area somewhere between trunk and back seat. Then the gas gauge has become inaccurate (reads full when almost empty), and then keyless entry goes out followed by dashboard lights not working. All within a few months. Is there a short somewhere or is it the Body Control Module? What are the costs of repair and for each problem which can I fix myself?

Thanks,

Marcus

Answer
It could be the BCM or it could be something more involved. I would recommend taking the vehicle to a repair shop to have it diagnosed. If you change the BCM and that doesn't fix it or the new BCM get burned out due to a short or something, you just threw a few hundred buck out of the window. Electrical problems can be tricky and are sometimes hard to solve. But this does sound like a possible BCM issue.
