Saturn Repair: SL2 1995 is chugging, and stalling, going in the right direction, saturn sl2

Question
I bought a used Saturn SL2  95 last month, and did a very thorough test drive  on it. It ran great. Now I am having an issue where when I have driven it for about a half hour in stop and go traffic, it begins to chug and then within 20 seconds it just stalls out. It restrarts again fine, but will run rough until it cools back down. I als notice that it starts to run hotter the longer I sit in idle. Any ideas what I m dealing with here? I m on a very limited budget and am making payments on this vehicle. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Chavs,
I would look at the ECT sensor.  If you will go back through some of my old posts on this site, you will find detailed information on where to find it, what to look for and how to fix it.
Also, check your cooling fan motor.  You can do this by watching the temp gauge.  On the '95 model, your temp should get about 3/4 of the way up before the fan comes on.  If it doesn't, I'd check that ECT and the fan motor.  You can tell if your fan motor works by turning on the a/c.  Anytime that your a/c button is pushed, and your a/c blower is blowing, the fan motor will come on.  That should get you going in the right direction.
