Saturn Repair: Battery & ABS id10t lights on, wheel speed, dash lights

Question
Hi Chris,
I have a 93 SL2 and while I was driving the dash lights start getting dim and the id10t lights started to light up.  I pulled over the side off the road and after turning it off I was not able to start it again. After having towed home I replaced the alternator and the battery, but the battery and ABS id10t lights still stay on.  Am I missing a step? Your advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Vern

Answer
Vern,
Well, it's been a long time since I heard somebody refer to the id10t light.  We call it a 1D10T, or one-delta-ten-tango light.  Very well.
The only thing I can remember about the 93 ABS lights is a malfunctioning wheel speed sensor. The speedometer gets its readings from an output speed sensor on the trans.  So, if a WSS was bad, you would still get a speedometer reading.  The only way that you would know is if you could acquire a diagnostic tool and watch the WSS readings as you drive.  Other than that, I don't remember the ABS modules going bad on the early Saturns.  I hope this helps.

Chris
