Saturn Repair: Oil Pressure Light / Speedometer, saturn sc2, oil pumps

Question
I recently took a 95 Saturn SC2 for a 10 mile drive . The car ran great but the oil pressure light came on when I hit my driveway. I opened the hood and the  engine sounded fine. The engine is not smoking.

Also the speedometer is not working properly as I get no MPH reading on it.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks

Answer
Guy,
How many miles are on that Saturn?   I know that the higher mileage Saturns tend to produce less oil pressure than they should.  I don't think I have ever replaced an oil pressure sensor on that engine.  Mostly, I have replaced/repaired the oil pumps.  It's not a terribly hard procedure, just time consuming and messy.  Check the simple stuff first though, like oil level.  That vehicle can run on less than 1 quart of oil, for a little while.
As far as your speedometer goes, that's a tricky one.  Hard to diagnose unless you can view the wheel speed sensor readings.  I would more than likely suspect that your speedometer motor has quit working.  It wasn't common for them to go out, but more common than a computer problem or sensor problem.  Hope this helps,

Chris
