Saturn Repair: Saturn SL2, 2000 saturn sl2, saturn sl2

Question
I have a 2000 Saturn SL2 that won't start.  Pulled it into the driveway one night and went to start it the next day and it would not start.  Checked the fuel line and it appears to be getting fuel.  It does not appear to be the starter or the battery.  If you hold the key in the start position, it attempts to turn over, but doesn't get enough juice to kick.  It turns over and winds the battery down.  Any suggestions.

Answer
Hi Laura,
While the 2000 SL2 is a different animal than I am directly familiar with, I have a few things to look for:

First, this is most commonly caused by either the alternator not sending the required amount of juice to the charging system or the cables to and from the battery and / or anternator may be the culprits. The battery cables were a constant problem with the older 1991-1998 models and may still problematic in the 1999-2002 models,a as well.  If you have an AutoZone Autoparts store near you, they will test your car FOR FREE!  outside of that, I don't have any more suggestions.
I hope you all the best, Laura.  Thanks for asking.
Sincerely,
Greg Moore
