Saturn Repair: I have a 1994 Saturn sl2 4dr..., 1994 saturn sl2, saturn sl2

I have a 1994 Saturn sl2 4dr 5 spd with 220,000 miles on it. It runs great and everything works except for the a/c. I don't know for sure if this is an engine related problem, but I will ask. The air conditioner just recently quit, the clutch on the compressor won't engage, when you press the a/c button, the little light comes on, but not the air-conditioner, there is no click, not a thing happens. Everything else works fine including the blower ,heater and air diverter, I checked all the fuses, under the hood and in the passenger compartment, they are all ok even the relays and the big fuses. Also the engine cooling fan does not come on when I press the a/c button either.  Any suggestions?  Thank you

While I don't have any real experience with the Saturn A/C, I would supect a couple possiblilites:
First, the Clutch will not engage if the system is low on R134 Freon. The system requires a suffucient charge to allow the clutch to engage to runn the compressor.  But, that would, as a rule, allow the clutch to at least try to engage...you would likely hear a click, for example.  It is also possible that the clutch went bad.
Outside of that, I don't have any more info.  Sorry.
