Saturn Repair: high pitch in 2001, high pitch, cuttie

Hello Greg,
   To be blunt, she's a hell of a cuttie (the owner, not the car) and I wouldn't mind helping her with her problem. It's a 2001 SL2 and it sound horrible. There is a high pitch winding noise coming from the top end. It's always constant(even at idle) and winds up with the gas. I can't make whether it's right under the valve cover on the side with the belts or possibly the p/s pump. Steering is good. Bearings? not valves? Timing belt? A common problem for 'em? I would love to know. P.S.- She's an x ice skater.

Hi Nathan,
I am not skilled in the 1999 and up SL2.  They change the complete design in 1999 and I am not familiar with the engine.  BUT, I think it is perhaps the idler pully bearings.
