Answer
Hi Jon,
This is a tough one.  Only because it can be so many things.  My First guess would be the Battery or more likely, the battery cables come from the battery.  The cables go bad A LOT!  I had the exact problem about 5 years ago on my 1993 SL2.  After replacing a perfectly good battery, I removed the starter only to find it was fine! A friend suggested replacing the battery cables and that was the problem.  There was no sign of damage to them...but they were corroded inside.  But, I don't want to get your hopes up to high.  It could be the Starter.  I have replaced the started in a 1993 SL2 for the reason you are describing here.  So, it could be either of those two OR something else.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.  I would say FIRST INSPECT THE BATTERY CABLES.  Make sure the ground cable is making good contact.

Thanks for the question,
Greg Moore
