Saturn Repair: engine stutters when accelerating, pizza delivery driver, saturn sl1

Question
Ken-

Thanks for the quick response.  The check engine light has not been on at all.  I checked the antifreeze and it looks fine...no oil that I can see.  Any other ideas?  Thank you again.

Hi Ken,

Thanks in advance for your help!  I have a 2000 Saturn SL1 4-door sedan with about 110,000 miles.  I work the car very hard as I am a pizza delivery driver; lots of stop and go repetition.  I'm usually pretty good about oil changes, but I'll admit that I've never had a tune-up or any major services performed other than having the tires changed...guess I've been lucky not to have had a problem until now.  The problem only occurs in the morning when the engine is cold, and usually dissapears after running the car for 5 miles or so.  What happens is that as I accelerate, the car lurches as though there's bad gas in the tank or something.  It's especially bad in third gear, and doesn't happen at all when I've reached a constant speed.  Do you have any ideas or suggestions?  Thanks again for the help!

Hi well has the check engine light been on? it may be a number of things but one thing to check is to take a look at the antifreeze to see if oil has mixed with it a cracked head is common to these cars and may cause the problem,, check that and get back to me on the engine light

Answer
Hi well the cars are common for collant temp sensors or air temp sensors but the really u need a scanner to check them im thinking that one of them may be sending false readings to the pcm but they are still in range so no code ..without a code we are just guessing..
