Saturn Repair: rear windshield wiper & window washer, rear windshield, clock spring

Question
I have a 2001 Saturn S4W wagon. The rear washer doesn't work, and now the wiper only operates some of the time. The dealership says the problem is in the switch assembly on the steering column. My question is: If i start trying to get to this component, is there a risk of setting off the air bag? If so, how can I avoid, or disable the air bag system before I start? Thanks Rick

Answer
Hi well the risk is low if u follow the precautions first disable the battery and then let the air bag mod deenergize i would let it sit 15 min it doesnt take that long but to be safe then as long as u are static free no problems just touch the door fram when u get in that should take the static away and rember put it back the same way and if u do take the wheel off take note where the clock spring is ..good luck
