Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Husqvarna lawn mower wont engage

I have a husqvarna yth 2348 lawn mower. When I engage the blades it will engage then stop. Mower stays running but blades starts then stops.

Is a deck safety switch bad or is there some mechanical part on the deck causing the problem?

Have you removed the mowing deck and looked at the mechanical parts to see if anything is broke or binding?  A good visual inspection and rotating the blades/pulleys by hand is a good way to make sure all the mower deck parts are properly working.
