Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): honda 20hp ride-on

Question
I just put a new battery in my Dixon ride-on because it was only giving a clicking sound when i tried to start it. It starts now and then but usually just clicks away. I have cleaned the connection, earths etc. What could it be? Bill.

Answer
Did you dis-connect the battery cables and clean the battery terminal posts and battery cable ends with a wire brush?

Search Google for "How to measure voltage drop" or "Voltage drop testing" and check the voltage drop across each each cable to make sure the battery cables are good.

Measure the voltage of the positive cable from the battery to solenoid and solenoid to starter as well as the the ground.
