Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Poulon Pro PBV200 blower/vac

Question
Recently had this unit checked out at local small engine repair shop. Technician said it had only 55lb compression and would cost more to fix than replace. Wondering what needs to be done and if there are instructional videos/instructions/youtube to direct? I've never done such engine repair but am a quick study! Unit has new plug and clean carb.

Answer
With that low of compression you either need a new ring, piston, cylinder or all the above.  If we were repairing for a customer we would replace all those parts.

If it were mine at home, I would just try a ring but knowing a new ring might not fix the problem.

If you decide to just replace the ring MARK which way the piston faces the exhaust.
