Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snapper wont start

Question
I have a rear engine snapper M/N m280917b recoil start that wont start.  I have changed spark plug,  cleaned carb. tightened grounds. Ran fine last week started first pull. I dont think Im getting spark.  Help if you can.  Thank you

Answer
On the engine, near the throttle cable mount, you will see a small wire.  Dis-connect it and see if it starts.  If it does you know you have a safety switch or wire issue.

You will NOT be able to shut-off the mower with this wire dis-connected.  Just use a pair of players with rubber handles and GENTLY pull the spark plug wire to stop the engine.  You can also try choking the engine by placing the throttle control in the CHOKE position.

See the spade terminal in the picture at the URL below:

Just dis-connect the wire connected to the spade terminal...no tool needed other than a screwdriver or plyers to unplug the wire.

Let me know what happens.
