Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman mower, safety switches, engine brands

Having to frankenstien 17.5 hpframe with 19.5 motor. Wire harness for motor damage. Spliced connector in. Motor will run until release clutch or engage deck.. any suggestions?0

Were the engines the same brand?  Briggs for Briggs...or did you switch engine brands...Briggs to Kohler?

Just swapping the engine should not have affected the safety switches.  Where and what did you splice?

What is the Craftman model number?  The model number format will be something like xxx.xxxxx or xxx-xxxxxx.
