Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): john deere srx95 rear engine, peerless transaxles, peerless transaxle

my john deere will not go into gear. not forward or reverse. stock in neutral . does it have a sensor or something to lock it so you cant shift ?

Answer
No sensor.  If the mower is off can you shift the transmission?

It could be a rusty detent ball or broke shift keys inside the transaxle.  Have you tried loosening the detent ball (index ball) set screw to see if you can shift gears?
