Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sno Blower auger shear pin, auger hole, shear pin

Question
I broke the shear pin on the auger and can't seem to find the hole to put the replacement in. What am I missing? Could the previous pin be stuck in the hole? How do I locate it?

Answer
Yes, the previous pin is probably stuck inside.  We use a small flat punch.  Insert in the auger hole and rotate the aruger.  You should feel the punch contact the hole where the broken pin is.  Once you locate the hole verify it is aligned with the auger, use a flashlight.  Once aligned, use the punch and a hammer to drive out the old pin.
