Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro rider mower, jumper cables, positive cable

Question
Hello, I have a Toro rider model 56145  8 hp brigs & stratton, S/N 8000698, When turning the key, the motor will not start.  In the past if I turned the key several times, the motor would start sooner or later.  This time, nothing.  Not even the clicking sound.  The battery is new.  I checked the continuity of the switch.  is was good from the G to M position with the switch closed.  I could not get any continuity with the switch in the operating position.  I have not tried to short the staring solenoid.  Your help is appreciated.

You  May have a bad solenoid what you can try is to run a heavy wire from the positive Battery terminal directly to the stater post, if you have a set of jumper cables use the positive side that wire is heavy make sure you do not leave it on there just barley touch it with the positive cable to see if the starter will engage,if it does replace to solenoid.
