Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): resistor to coil, kohlerengines, resistance wire

kohler k241s..no spark..new coil requires a resistor...does this resistor go on the positive side of the coil or negative side...points etc are on negative side...you indicate that the resistor goes to the power side.  coil specifies a resistor or resistance wire so i dont want to burn it up before i find the problem

Section 8 of the Service Manual does not mention anything about a resistor but I thought I recalled seeing resistors on some of the older K engines.

Which coil are you using?
