Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs & Stratton 158cc wont stay running, briggs stratton, starter cord

Question
I have a Briggs & Stratton Weedeater brand lawn mower. I have had it serviced once and it worked great. My 15 year old turned the mower over and a lot of the oil drained out. I have checked the oil and it is back. I am wanting to drain and refill the oil but I can't find a the manual. I have searched the entire mower and I can;t locate the model or engine type asked for on the B&S website. I do have the serial number off the mower. if you can assist me in help with finding the manual I am sure I could do the rest. Thank you and God Bless you and yours.

Answer
Most likely oil got inside the cylinder when the mower was turned over.

Remove the spark plug and then pull the starter cord and see if any oil comes out of the spark plug hole.  If so, keep pulling until no mower oil comes out.  Next, spray some carb cleaner in the spark plug hole.  Pull the string until no mower fluid comes out.

I'd also remove the air filter and clean/replace if it is oil soaked.

Check the oil level.

Re-install the spark plug and see if it starts.  It make smoke as some oil is probably in the muffler.

As for the manual, you can usually find Briggs operator manuals online but they won't help with fixing the mower.  I have found a Briggs online repair manual.

Complete the steps above and let me know if the  mower starts.
