Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B & S Carburetor Rebuild, loc tite, throttle valve

Question
I have a B&S engine - Model: 12Q502, Type: 0138-B1, Code: 07072462. I recently purchased a carby re-build kit but can't work out how to remove the 'shaft-throttle' in order to replace the 'seal'. Please advise. Thank you.

Answer
Remove the throttle valve retaining screw and use needle nose plyers to pull the throttle valve from the shaft.

Make sure you MARK the throttle valve top and side so you know how to re-install.  You can use a Sharpie, black or silver, to mark the throttle valve position.

When re-installing you will have to make fine adjustments to ensure the throttle valve and shaft freely move with no binding.  Use some Loc-tite 242 or similar thread lock to make sure the throttle valve screw does not come loose.
