who can answer a question about my tractor? 1968 3000 ford, there is a screw below the rear end hydraulic fill level plug, behind your right foot when sitting on tractor, it was leaking, removed it and now it wont screw back in and hold, hopefully not and adjustment of some kind or to hold tension on some internal linkage, can i safely plug this hole? screw had an o ring under it, is there anyone on this site who could answer this question for me?

Sounds like the screw is stripped out allot of times this happens with this type of screw.Yes you can plug it,make sure that you can always remove it and most important that it can seal so there is no leakage as this plug will have pressure on it. Your best bet may have to be to install a over size screw with a o-ring on it to prevent it from popping out. If you try to use a new thread make sure you do not get any metal shavings in the oil as this will cause you problems. Try a rubber plug like the type they use on a boat transom so when you pull it out of the water you can unplug it and drain the water.
