Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Identifying number one cylinder, mule 2500, kawasaki manual

Question
Morning Eric, I am attempting to rebuild the engine on a 1996 KAF620-C2, Kawasaki Mule 2500. Engine number range is FD620DE07752B, 4-stroke, 2-cylinder, OHV, 617cc. The manuals and diagrams don't identify which is the number one cylinder. Can you advise if it is the one with the water pump or the opposite side without the water pump? Basic question and I should know the answer but drawing a blank. Thanks for the help, Parker.

Answer
Normally the front cylinder is number one.  Do you have the Kawasaki manual?  Have you used a flashlight and looked at on the inside and out walls of the cylinders to see if they are numbered?  Sometimes they are numbered on the cylinder head.

Do you have the engine in pieces?

Eric
