Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Magneto, air gap, engine 143

Engine# 143-544012 serial # 4276-03268 the only number i could find on the magneto was the cover 30550, sears has is as 610690 but they do not carry it any longer, i am looking for an after market one so i don't have to mess with the points and the other stuff, hoping they have a newer one available somewhere, it is on a generator. i cleaned it up adjusted points to 0.20 and i get a good shock but no spark with a new plug or a spark tester.

The magneto you have is producing spark? something else is wrong then check to see if the points are not grounded out. They do not make a aftermarket one that you can use without the points  Air gap on the ignition coil should be approx .010 to.014" but it would only affect strength of spark. The only other thing you can do is replace the magneto.You can purchase one online.
