Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Engine dies with air filter on., briggs and stratton, hp briggs

Question
I have a 195. HP Briggs and Stratton Turbo Cool Engine (Model 42E707) on a Craftsman 42 inch riding mower. Yesterday when cutting the engine suddenly died out and would not restart until the air filter was off. The filter was dirty so I put a new one on, changed the fuel filter also. The engine will start but not run smooth with the filter off, when I put the filter on it loeses all power and dies. I took apart the carb and cleaned out jets and the bowl and look for any blockages. After I finished still no luck. It runs without the air filter but with no power.

Not sure what to try next. Its not smoking and was on a fresh tank of fuel. Oil was low but now full again. Plugs were dirty but cleaned them. Does not explain sudden stall though.

Answer
Did you use compressed air, from an air compressor, to blow through all the carburetor orifices(holes)?  I've had to clean carbs a couple of times to get them to run right.

I would clean the carb again making sure to blow compressed air through all the carb orifices to make sure they are clean.

Let me know if you used compressed air to blow through all the carb orifices.
