Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): jumping a car FROM a 12 volt lawnmower, info thanks, electrical components

Question
I have a 10 year old yardman 25 hp 46 cut riding mower (sorry, don't know the info you clearly stated you needed).  Just trying to verify accuracy of some general information. I was told that you can and likely will ruin your lawnmower's battery (12 volt) if you use it to jump start a car or other lawnmower that is 12 volt.  Something was said about not having an alternator in the lawnmower, only a rectifier?!  If you can't answer I certainly understand...just don't know even where to find this info.  Thanks for your time.

Yes that is correct using a car to jump start a mower can & may burn out certain electrical components in your equipment. The best way is to remove the battery in the mower and get it tested, this way you know if it is good or not,if it is bad and you use a car to jump it you may be buying a new battery along with other parts for the mower especially the voltage regulator and the rectifier. If it is good then you know it may be other problems.
