Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Walbro Carb Problem, air leaks, mccullochs

Question
I have a Poulan Pro SM132  31cc weedeater with a Walbro carb # WT628 and unit would not start after being stored for winter. I cleaned the spark arrestor screen on the muffler, replaced all of the gaskets and diaphram, and needle. I can not get unit to start but will run only when nearly full choke. Rmeoved the carb again and soaked overnight in seafoam and now will start and run without choke, but now getting to much fuel. I tried readjusting the metering valve, but it does not make any difference. The muffler has fuel spitting from it too while running. It had spit like this before but stopped. there was a lot of oil and fuel buildup all over the chasis (especially around the muffler area) when I got the weedeater. It had a new spark plug and air filter and the old spark plug had carbon buildup and a lot of soot. The air filter was pretty dirty too. Also notes, that the base gasket to the carb was torn and leaking and was also replaced.Any suggestions of ideas?

Answer
Did you go to Walbro's website and download the service manual?  Are there any other gaskets leaking?  I have had the cylinder jug bolts loosen creating a leak at the base of the cylinder...lots of oil in area next to the leak.

You might want to start by checking all the screws and seals to make sure they are not leaking.  The seal behind the clutch on some McCullochs used to leak because saw dust would build up in the area and ruin the seal.

Download the Walbro service manual and check the carburetor metering arm height and make sure are the engine screws are tight so there are no air leaks.

Did you blow compressed air from and air compressor through all the carburetor orfices?
