Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S Model 28N707-0160.01 Blowing Oil thru Crankcase Breather Tube into Air Cleaner, craftsman model, crankcase breather

Question
Hi Ben, First time user here, sure hope you can help me. The above mentioned engine powers my Craftsman Model 917.252521 Rider Mower (SN 110894A 002842) Code on Motor is 9409094A. I was having serious carb issues, so I bought a rebuild kit, and overhauled it. Now, upon starting it up, the engine coughs out this white smoke and blows oil up into the air cleaner through the crankcase breather tube. I fear I've reached the limit of my expertise, and throw myself (and my mower) at your mercy.

Tim

when you rebuilt the carb did you make sure the needle valve is installed correctly? This is important if it is not seating the fuel will keep flowing into the carb and eventually get in to the oil. You need to check the oil to see if it smells like gas and is diluted. If it is change the oil with new straight 30W oil.Remove the carb and check the seat they are a pain to install sometimes. When the carb is held upside-down the float should rest parallel to the carb body  maintaining the fuel level inside the carb bowl. If it isn't parallel, replace the float, needle, and/or seat.
