Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Mcculloch Mower clutch cable change, drive pulley, clutch cable

Question
Good morning,
I have a Mcculloch Lawn mower. Model M45-500CDR, s/n 01 04804371
The clutch cable on my mower has parted at the gearbox /clutch end, but I have not yet found the remnant cable end and nipple. I cannot see how to replace it with new at present. Having removed all (8+) screws on the gear box/clutch housing screws on the shaft, this item will not split easily. Please advise how to fit a new cable. In anticipation. Regards,Jerry

Answer
Can you attach a picture?  I have not seen any McCulloch imported to the States for many, many years.  I Googled the mower and it looks like the mower is sold in the UK.

Is parts link below for your mower?

Looking at the parts diagram the cable connects to the transmission are under the drive pulley.  There is no need to split the transmission.
