Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kohler ch20 motor battery wont charge, input pins, ch20

Hi Eric,
I have a Kohler ch20, for the last three years Ihave replaced the battery. Just replaced again, and its dead. My question is, what do I need to replace that charges the battery on a ch20?

Have you checked the regulator output?  Kohler sells special regulator testers but a multimeter will work as well.  There are 2 AC input pins and 1 DC output on the regulator.  The AC input comes from the stator under the flywheel...this is how you determine which are the AC input wires.

The DC output will be one wire and run to the mower wire harness.
