Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): kohler sv470-610 courage engine will not start, kohler engine, garden tractor

Question
My Troybilt garden tractor will not start.I have cleaned carburetor and sprayed starter into it and it started and ran roughly for a minute or two then cut off and would not start again unless starter is used. This Kohler engine has a fuel shut off solenoid on carburetor bowl and I wonder if it is bad and if it could be a factor.I have used tractor a couple times and it was hard to start, but did run.Battery, spark plug, air, fuel, and oil filters are all new.Gas is getting to the carburetor. Thanks

Take the wire from the solenoid and test it to ground. With key off  test the wire to ground,it should be open. Then with the tester connected turn the key don't start it just turn the key. You should get 12Vdc if not then there may be a fuse blow, wire broke. disconnected or pinched. If you get voltage 12Vdc put it back on the solenoid and just turn the key you should here it click,if not then the solenoid is bad.If the solenoid  checks out good then your carburetor is the culprit, you may as well rebuild it as there is dirt in the cab of a blockage.
