Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Peerless Transmission, oil viscosity, 2 quarts

Question
I have a 20HP/46" cut Murray with a H 2000-002B Peerless Silentrac Transaxle.

The transmission used to get slower and slower as it heated up (and eventually go no further - after about 20mins of mowing) so I searched everywhere for an answer. Letting the mower cool down fixed the prob for a while.

So... I decided to change the oil..80w90 for the tans approx 16 Fl Oz, 20w50 for the other side - 2 quarts I read somewhere but this is obviously too much as it overflowed.

Breather plugs are both on top so I removed the gearbox and upended it to drain... A bit of Kerosene through to clean anything else out, righted the gearbox and filled with both oils.

Put it all back into the machine, connected everything back up and NOW I have NO forward or Reverse!!!!

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers

Answer
Hello Roger:

>>Why did you Use Different Viscosity Oils?
>>The 80X90 Gear Lube is all that is Called for on this Unit.
>>Change the 20W50 Oil to 80W90 Gear Lube.
>>If you Used the 20W50 in the Pump on this Unit, then
>>The Oil Viscosity is too Thin and the Module/Pump cannot Build Pressure to Turn the Transaxle.
>>From your Description it Sounds like the Hydro has an Air Pocket in the Module Section of the Transaxle, the Viscosity of the Oil is Too Thin and Requires Changing or the Internal Components of the Hydro Module/Pump are Worn and the Module/Pump Section of the Transaxle Requires Replacing.
>>Most of these Hydro Transaxle Modules/Pumps (Part #794786) are Self Bleeding/Priming.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Transaxle at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the P. Then Select Peerless. Then Select "Don't have Part Numbers? Click Here". Then Select the Series Transaxle (Series 2000). Then Select the Transaxle File (2000-2000-002B) for your Transaxle.
>>If you Hit a Snag, have More Questions or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
