Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snow Champ, snow blowers, neutral positions

Question
I own a 20 year old Snow Champ (bought used.)  I am new to using snow blowers.  I looked inside and see a rotating disc with a pad for the power drive to the wheels.  If I want to move the blower when the engine is NOT running, does it matter if I leave it in gear?  Is neutral better?  There are two neutral positions and one of them does apply some forward motion - why?  Does it matter if I pull it backwards while in gear?

Answer
You should not be able to move the unit when it is in gear...the rubber disc must be slipping.  The two neutrals are seperate...one if for the wheel drive and when is for the auger drive.

When moving the snowblower it should be in neutral.

Does the blower work well?  Does the auger ever slip?  Does the forward motion ever slip when blowing deep snow?

Let me know.
