Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Clarences impeller mod - snowblower, impeller blades, craftsman snowblower

Question
Hi, I have a 10yr old Craftsman snowblower 26" 8hp. I noticed the edges of the impeller blades have almost an inch gap from the cylinder wall. I did some research online and found something called Clarence's impeller mod kit and saw a lot of people had god things to say about. The idea is that it adds rubber extensions to each blade to close off the gap, thereby increasing the throwing distance of the snowblower. Here's a link to the kits: http://smllengns.tripod.com/ Most people report very good results, but my question to you is, could this have any negative effect on the engine, causing parts to wear out prematurely?  Thanks for you opinion.

Answer
Hello Matt:

>>Thanks for this Question.
>>It Shows Your Concern for the Unit as a Whole.
>>I have Installed Many of these Kits and they Work Great.
>>The Weight is Not as Much as I thought it would be and the Effects on the Engine and Drive System were Slight and Reduction in Power is Not even Noticeable.
>>Also I have Not Noticed Any Problems Concerning the Excessive Wear to the Units themselves.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
