Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears gamefisher 3 HP, carburetor cleaners, sea foam

Question
Just aquired this little motor. It has been in storage dry
for 5 years. I mixed fuel 50?1 and followed directions for
starting. No go. Put small amount of fuel in cylinder and it
will start and run roughly until fuel is gone. Took carb
apart and soaked for several hours in gunk and blew out when
done . Re assembled and still not getting fuel to cyl. Carb
was rebuilt 5 years ago befor it was put in storage. Changed
plug and have a yellow spark. ANy help will be greatly
appreciated. Bill

Answer
I am not familiar with this engine, but if it isn't getting fuel, it's got to be a carburetor or fuel pump problem. If there is not fuel pump, it's in the carburetor. I don't know about your area, but with ethanol, the old stand by carburetor cleaners don't work. I use SEA FOAM, or DEEP CREEP, they are formulated to eat through ethanol. I hope this helps.
