Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro Snowthrower Question, assembly drawings, valve hole

Question
have a 1984 Toro Model 38040 Snowthrower2 stage that I can
not get to start.  I can get it to fire by adding carb
cleaner to it but will not stay running.  I rebuilt the carb
but believe I didn't get the pin above the float in properly
which is why I am not getting gas through it until I remove
the bowl.  Does anyone have a diagram that shows, in detail,
how it goes into the body of the carb.  Does the wire
attached to it hook onto the float or does it just hover
inside above the float and should there be a rubber washer
inside the shaft that the pin goes into?

Thanks,
Brian

Answer
Hello Brian:

>>The Spring that the Pin goes through is Attached to the Knob at the Top of the Needle Valve.
>>It makes sure the Needle Valve will Move when the Float Moves, Opening and Closing the Needle Valve to Control the Gas Flow Into the Carburetor.
>>There is a Rubber Seat in the Needle Valve Hole of the Carburetor, ONLY if the Needle Valve is a Solid Metal Needle Valve.
>>If the Needle Valve has a Rubber (usually black in color) Tip, then the Rubber Seat is Not Used.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/default.cfm and Select Start Parts Viewer. Now Enter the Model Numbers (38040) and Click Search. Now Select View Assembly Drawings for your Year Model.
>>Now Select the Carburetor Breakdown for your Engine.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.
