Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kohler M20, oil pressure switch, low oil pressure

Question
Good morning, I have a Bolens tractor, with a kohler M20, which had a governor issue that ended up punching a hole through the block. After tearing down, and having the block repaired, I took the crank and jugs to a machine shop and had them checked and cleaned up(valves ground and jugs honed a bit). Still within std.specs I replaced bearings, rods, pistons, rings and a governor. Got it back together and fired up. Now the problem. After a few minutes the oil light stayed on, I shut it down. Checked the oil sender with a meter and air pressure. It is working. I pulled the oil filter and found the spring and ballbearing in the filter. I dont remember seeing any kind of keeper devise with the filter adapter plate when I took it apart. I put a washer in the adapter plate to keep the spring and ball from being expelled into the filter, but the oil light still stayed on. Without sufficient oil pressure Im afraid the far connecting rod will seize on the crank. Do you have any suggestions? The ser. num on the kohler is 49565.
                            Thanks for your time,

Answer
Hello Eric:

>>Stop where you are.
>>Remove the Washer from the Filter Plate.
>>You have to Remove the Closure Plate which gives you Access to the Pressure Relief Valve Spring, Ball and Sleeve.
>>Did you Check the Actual Oil Pressure from the Oil Pump when you had the Low Oil Pressure Switch Out?
>>The Pressure Relief Sleeve may be Worn and Require Replacing.
>>Replace the Relief Valve as a Complete Assy.
